At Visual Pathways, we believe in our technology. And we’re
not the only ones! Since January 2000 we have been awarded peer-reviewed
U.S. Army grants totaling approximately $3.5 million for the ARIS™,
VisPath Analyzer™ and GlucoScope™ Monitor product development
and commercialization efforts.
Our
product development efforts have resulted in completion of the development
of the ARIS™ Automated Retinal Imaging System. Commercial production
and shipment began in 2004.
The Company was awarded U.S. patent 6,834,958,
covering the Digicat Imager™,, “Instruments and Methods for
Examining and Quantifying Cataracts” in December 2004. International
patents covering the DigiCat Imager™ are pending. Market
availability is projected for mid-2006.
On December 28, 2004 the U.S. Patent
and Trademark Office awarded VPI U.S. patent 6,836,337 covering the GlucoScope™
Monitor. International patents covering the GlucoScope™ Monitor
are pending. The GlucoScope™ Monitor is still in the pre-prototype
stage with fundamental optics and software design efforts well underway.
The VisPath Analyzer™ development has been advanced
significantly and three prototypes have been in use by clinicians for
about two years. A human clinical study is underway at the University
of Iowa Department of Neuro-ophthalmology.
A research model should be available mid-2006.
