"Our
age of anxiety is in great part due to the result of trying to do today's
jobs with yesterday's tools."
- Marshall McLuhan
Evaluating pupil response and eye movement is an important
part of most general physical exams. Thats because eye movements
and pupil responses are controlled by an extremely sensitive set of visual
neuronal centers and pathways that are affected by many medical conditions.
The VisPath Analyzer (VPA) provides pre-programmed visual stimuli
and automates the examination of eye movement, pupil function and visual
fields.
Rapid and accurate screening, diagnosis and monitoring
of a wide variety of conditions that affect neural pathways in the case
of
- Head Trauma
- Concussion
- Stroke
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Myastenia Gravis
- Brain Tumors
Results are in digital form and can be communicated via
Internet or other telemedical media.
- Minimal training required for operation
of the VPA
- No patient discomfort
- Typical exam takes 3 minutes
- Clinical studies underway at University of Iowa
Department of Neuro-ophthalmology
- A research model should be available mid-2006.
The test results are displayed in a chart indicating various
measures in relations to population norms, with abnormal results highlighted.
If the user wants to examine the results of specific tests, graphs like
those below can readily be displayed.
